The collection contains mainly the papers of Fred Reeve, Flanner House's director of self-help services during the 1940s and 1950s, and includes reports, booklets, clippings, and photographs. The materials are divided into five series: Flanner House history, Flanner House programs, Division of Self-Help Services, Indianapolis Redevelopment Commission, and Flanner House Homes, Inc. Many of the materials deal with housing, housing relocation, and slum clearance. Other topics include a credit union, a cannery, the work done on Flanner House projects by Quaker students, and race relations in a rapidly growing and changing city.
